Don’t panic!

Predictably enough, the UK media is full of panic this morning after the US Presidential Election result was announced.

Not having any interest in this election since I cannot vote, I had largely ignored the saturation coverage UK mainstream media thought the people here needed to see.

They’ve since moved on to the ‘effects on the markets‘ and whether Trump’s tough talking will result in more wars over wider geographic areas.

Frankly, it’s all just padding to fill broadcast schedules and column inches. Why? Because nobody knows and spending all this time on “What will a Trump presidency mean?” is pure speculation.

We saw this all before, when the Brexit result came out. The media told us the world as we know it was about to end. How the markets would collapse. How it risked everything we valued.

Well guess what. It didn’t.

The world is still turning and daily life goes on.

So if I may, I would like to quote the headline on the front of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

“Don’t Panic!”
