The Eagle Owl

european-eagle-owlThe European Eagle Owl is probably my facourite bird of all time. They’re huge with wingspans of 4-6ft being quite common and weighing up to 10lbs. The European Eagle Owl is large enough to be threatening as a bird of prey, yet somehow still retains the cuteness of smaller owls.

I think it is that kind of dual personality that I find so fascinating about them.

One minute they may be primping and preening their feathers, the next they are back to roosting with that haughty look of superior wisdom.

A beautiful bird to watch at rest and a majestic sight to see in flight.
