It was back in October when I first wrote about the quality of recruitment agency advertisements and how each one seemed to begin with the phrase, “an exciting opportunity”
It seems people in the recruitment industry must have had a good Christmas because since then I have seen so many errors in the text of the adverts and the latest example hit my inbox today.
One of the reasons I blog is to enable me to write virtually every day. Writing and having a good command of the English Language is like any other skill. It takes practice to get it right.
In the recruitment supply chain, agencies are representing their clients and each job advertisement is essentially marketing material on their behalf. To some, using the plural of “company” instead of the possessive isn’t too much of a crime, but for me, basic English skills are essential to any marketing or communication role.
After all, if the advertisements are not correct, who is to say the timesheets will be correct, or the invoicing.
However, if you are still struggling with your plurals and possessives you can now get help as you type. Check out Grammarly.
It is a neat little browser add-on that sits unobtrusively in the background.
